Christmas 1996
All of us lead lives that are layered in complexity. Layer upon layer is added on as we take on new responsibilities or even new hobbies. This year's Christmas card photo is a collage showing the layers of our lives peeled back. Our daughter created the hand that has torn the Christmas wrapping paper off and then peeled back layers of interest and ways that others identify us.
We assembled the collage on the floor, beginning with a black and white
portrait our friend Joe Cook took of us earlier this year. Victoria hand-tinted
the picture. Next we took the other elements and layered them on to create
the right look and feel. Then we photographed the results and had them processed
