In 2007, we took a three-week trip to Italy and France and knew that we wanted the trip to form the basis for the Christmas card. On a side street leading uphill from the Coliseum in Rome to a Franciscan monastery, we found an empty pedestal. Each of us posed on the base and then once home, we combined the pictures in PhotoShop to mimic the procession of Caesar statues we had seen earlier the same day lining the route near the old Roman Forum.
